Go is an ancient game that was invented by the Chinese and is still played today by people across the world.
Go is played with two people. Each play gets either black stones
, or white ones
. Each player takes turns with black starting first. Then, white plays, and so forth. Each stone is placed on the intersection of the lines on a board like this:
. The size of the board can range from 9x9, to 19x19. The goal of the game is to get the most territory.
There are standardized sets of moves called Joseki, and Tesuji. These add to the suspense of each game!
We are Ben Avon`s very own Go club. We meet every Saturday from 1-3 pm at the Fire Escape, 7221 Church Ave. Come on down to play Go and get some great coffee, or tea. We want to introduce the game of Go to Pittsburgh. Go is a great game. It started in ancient China around 2000 B.C., and has migrated into all major countries, and is enjoyed by millions. It is like "Othello", but there`s more strategy involved. It is an all around fun experience, and is a good learning experience for everyone.
